Natural Treatments for Arthritis

Hey, guys. Dr. Axe here, doctor of natural medicine and founder of DrAxe. com. In thisvideo, I’m going to share with you the top natural treatments for arthritis. Arthritisis something that affects a lot of people. Especially rheumatoid arthritis is reallyautoimmune in nature and actually starts in your gut, which is surprising to a lot ofpeople. So I’m going to really share with you these natural arthritis treatments thatare effective in terms of diet and supplements and the things you want to stay away from. The first thing I want to talk about is the arthritis diet you should be following, isit should be anti-inflammatory. Here are the top foods you should be consuming. Numberone, omega-3 rich foods. Omega-3 fatty acids are going to reduce inflammation. Wild-caughtsalmon or wild-caught fish is your number one food of choice. After that, for omega-3fats, things like grass-fed beef, along with flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts. So again, you can do a healthy snack like some walnuts and raisins, wild-caught salmon for dinner, put some flax or chia seeds in a morning super food shake, but get those omega-3 fatty acids. The second thing you want to do diet-wise is consume foods that are high in sulfur, and sulfur contains something called a form of MSM that reduces joint inflammation andhelps rebuilding your tissues. The top foods that are high in sulfur are going to be onions, garlic, asparagus, and cabbage. So you can do sauted cabbage with some garlic, dosome onions in with some grass-fed burger, of course, asparagus as a side dish or anysort of cabbage or coleslaw or sauerkraut, even better, but get those sulfur-rich foods. They help reduce arthritis symptoms. The next thing you want to be adding in is bone broth. Bone broth is loaded with a formof collagen that contains the amino acids proline and glycine, and both proline andglycine help rebuild tissues. So especially if you have any type of degeneration or youhave any sort of, not just inflammation, but degeneration of the joint, we know that bonebroth works great. So again, that’s going to be making a homemade bone broth soup isgreat for healing your joints. Last, but not least, lots of fruits and veggies. Fruits and veggies are packed with enzymesand anti-inflammatory compounds. Some of the best include papaya, which contains papain, pineapple which contains bromelain, and other sort of raw fruits and vegetables are fantastic. That should make up the bulk of your diet. It should be organic omega-3-rich meats, healthyvegetables, healthy fruits, and some nuts and seeds like flax, chia, and walnuts. Now, here’s what you want to stay away from. Number one is excess sugar. Excess sugar causesinflammation. Also hydrogenated oils, soybean oil, cottonseed oil, even canola oil, thoseare inflammatory oils. Stay away from those. Also certain grains like gluten. Consumingconventional grains, flour products, and wheat products will cause joint inflammation andmake arthritis worse. So for that reason, on your arthritis diet, you want to stay completelyaway from those foods if you want to start healing arthritis. One other sort of food, you can look this up, if you’re a very sensitive person, you have severe autoimmune disease, sometimes nightshade vegetables will contribute to arthritis symptoms as well. Now, here are the best supplements in the natural treatment of arthritis. Number oneis a fish oil supplement. I recommend 1,000 milligrams a day of a high-quality fish oil. Number two, turmeric. Doing about 1,000 milligrams a day of turmeric or curcumin, it’s a verypowerful anti- inflammatory herb. Now, you can take turmeric and sprinkle that on yourfood, and that works great as well. But actually, taking it as a supplement can be very effectivein the natural treatment of arthritis. Number three super food or super supplement you should be using is actually proteolyticenzymes. Proteolytic enzymes like bromelain, these are something that you take on an emptystomach, are probably, along with fish oil, the most effective thing you can do to getimmediate relief from arthritis. Number four, glucosamine. Glucosamine chondroitin, or glucosamine sulfate, is very effectiveat actually giving your body sort of the nutrients and things it needs for rebuilding healthyjoints. And last but not least, MSM. MSM is a form of sulfur you can take in supplement formthat’s also effective. So, guys, don’t forget those top foods, the top foods to stay away from, as well as thebest supplements in the natural treatment of arthritis.
